Normally I do a top 10 albums list of the year. This year It was just too hard to find 10 albums that came out this year that I love. So this is the top ten moment, things, and memories that I love this year. So let's get started
Tim Kasher's- The game of monogamy. This album is solid start to finish. The song Strays is now one of my favorite songs ever. This album will forever be connected to my first Autumn/early winter in Portland.
This little black box has changed my life. I no longer suffer with out cable, I have itunes/netflix and my favorite part of this little box, video podcasts to fill my evenings after work.
Moving to Portland, Oregon. Three months into this year, i packed up my VW mailed 7 boxes to myself and moved 2,200 miles north to Portland. A year ago, It was planning and hoping wishing and praying that I got here. The first three months of this year, I purged so much of my stuff to make this goal happen. I am so glad that I moved. I could have never have predicted what happened this year since then and the great friends I have made.
Jenny and Johnny- I saw them twice this year, and have listened to their album on repeat for days at a time. They are the cutest couple in rock and roll, i cannot wait to hear what the future brings from them!
Hilah Cooking! This girl cracks my shit up. PLUS everything I've made from her show has been super tasty. NOT to mention this super awesome buttermilk tomato soup she sent me via twitter. This girl's podcast rocks my world. I'd get cable again if there were more cooking shows like this one.
Cooking at home with this cook book. I do "de-veganize" somethings but after having some blood eggs a few weeks ago I am thinking of giving up Cheese and Eggs completely, we'll see I do love cheese and pizza so it's kind of hard to think of living in a world with out them.
Belle and Sebastian and my weekend adventure in LA. This show was one of the highlights of my year! I loved being back in the warm sunshine of LA for a few days with one of my favorite people on the planet! This concert was awesome times a 1,000 and pizza rosa was AMAZING.
Rare hot Oregon afternoons. This summer was very cold here in oregon, but there were a handful of days that hit the 90s and me and my friends would head out to the Sandy River and spend the summer afternoons float, swimming, soaking up the rare oregon sunshine.
The Shoebox experiment. I think a lot of people will be surprised that this is my number two thing i love of 2010. But the whole process of purging the excess, and living in 144 SQ FT apartment was one of the biggest learning experiences of my life. I learned how to cook things that were simple and delish. I also learned how to manage space better. I also learned that I need a little space to think and breath. There was nothing but growth from this experence. In the end I left the shoebox for the first apartment that actually feel at home in. This is my space. It's twisty little hallways and the beautiful skylight. I cannot wait to show it to you in the next few months.
My iPad + MBMJ case. I don't think anyone is shocked by this choice. I love my iPad there hasn't been a day since i bought it i haven't used it for something, reading books, magazines, loads of other things I adore this thing i haven't been so totally obsessed with something since i got my first iMac 10 years ago.
So that it the 10 things I loved from 2010. I hope everyone is having a safe and happy NYE and Happy New Year and have a great and productive 2011!
