Valentines day... or just an accuse to cook for a boy.

Yesterday was valentines day... I have sort a fucked up view of it.  I don't want flowers or candy or anything like that. If someone want's to buy me flowers, do it on a random day in march or april when the weather here in portland is so grey and miserable that flowers are the cure for the gloom.  I think is should be about spending time with the people who you care about. So that is what i did. 

 

I spent the afternoon walking up and down the lovely street i live on with two of my girlfriends. We went to the little cafe in the building I almost lived in and where there is this lovely waiter who happens to be super cute to boot.

After that we walked up and down my street... where we stopped in a little shop called Flutter

So after i left my friends I came home and started working on dinner. I am a chicagoian, I love goose island beer, and the cubs. I know where/what the crotch is and that you don't put Ketchup on hot dogs (even if I do). I also am a pizza snob, I know that the best pizza in the whole world you eat with a knife and a fork.  the boy that was my valentine dinner guest... is a west coaster who's never set foot near a chicago deep dish pizzeria. He and I are also vegan. SO... Vegan Deep Dish pizza was in order! 

I wish i would have gotten a picture when it came out of the oven. Seriously I wasn't quite sure that it had cooked all the way thru. but it had... I guess the fact that was all that was left is a good thing... I think SOMEONE had way more then I did. I can't blame him Deep Dish is deeply addictive and yummy! Thank heavens for Teese (a chicago based fake cheese) and Daiya (another kind of fake cheese) They seriously have made being vegan easier. For dessert I made 

Cherry berry pie... it was SUPER soupy... I don't know why I took out a lot of sugar, and added flower... Next time I may use a slotted spoon to keep all of the juice out. 

After dinner we hung out at my house and watched Welcome to Macintosh. YEP, we are both that nerdy.... It was perfectly lovely day.

Project Apartment: Kitchen

So, I may not be in my "new" apartment much longer... I mean a matter of weeks- up to two months. Good thing is my apartment I currently live in and the place I will be moving to were built in the same year. I have already decided on a color scheme for my kitchen.

I have the fabric picked out for the curtains (that I am making a touch wider then necessary so they will fit the new kitchen window.)  I even have the trim cut and pinned to them, I just need to take the hour or so and sew them together! 

 

When I was home at christmas, my mom and I found this table cloth on clearance at target 

So... all i really need is some cute grey and yellow fabric to make chair pads.  I also need to start looking for small appliances black and stainless steel... and maybe one of these...

Photo Dump, Utah wrap up, and some pretty exciting news.

 

Hello Loveies! It has been forever again since I have posted... One day i will get the hang of balancing my hectic real life, with a fun blog life... I do miss you when I am gone, I spent a bunch of time thinking DAMN i should have photographed that for the blog.... so here is photo dump since we last talked.

Park City utah where I was working at the Sundance Film Festival.... SQUEEE!!!! I saw two movies the whole time i was there both of them where documentaries... Project Nim... and the world vs bobby fisher. Both of them were pretty touching and sad in their own ways... 

While in park city, I moonlighted as a singer again... for an open mic... it's the first time since I've moved to portland that I've sung on a stage. I feel like this need to happen more... cause it makes me so very happy.

And I guess the big news... 

two days ago, I ate cheese for the last time... lovely cheddar cheese melted over a wonderful tofu scramble from Cup and Saucer, at the time i didn't know it would be the last time I ate cheese... It just sorta worked out that way... But Saturday night, in light of an upcoming project I've decied to take the jump... So I guess I am a vegan now... I still knit with wool and wear leather... so I am sure that makes some people scoff... but No eggs or cheese... So two days later I can't say i really miss it all that much.
